Project Overview: A Pool Fence
The homeowners of this Langley property were looking for a stronger, more private fence around their backyard and pool. The project included 173 linear feet of NORTHERNLINE® KODIAK HD vinyl fencing in Khaki, along with three gates. Most of the fence stood six feet high, and we added eight-foot sections where the homeowners needed more coverage.

The homeowners’ old wood fence had reached the end of its life, with loose boards, deteriorating sections, and ongoing maintenance becoming a growing concern. They knew they needed to replace it, but with several fencing materials and companies to choose from, they wanted to invest in an option that would provide lasting strength, privacy, and value.
A standard six-foot fence was suitable for much of the yard, but the layout and surrounding sightlines made some areas near the pool more exposed. They also wanted a material that could handle moisture and regular use around a busy backyard without requiring regular staining or painting.

Harley, our estimator, provided pricing for both cedar and vinyl fencing so they could compare the options. While cedar would have given them a natural wood look, they preferred something with less upkeep around the pool. With three gates included in the design, strength was another important part of the decision.
The estimator recommended KODIAK HD, our heavy-duty vinyl system. Vinyl suited the pool area better because it does not absorb moisture, rot, or require regular staining like cedar. KODIAK uses larger rails and thicker posts than the YUKON system and can also be built in taller heights. We installed eight-foot panels in the areas needing extra coverage and used six-foot panels throughout the rest of the yard. The taller sections included a center mid-rail, which adds support and helps break up the height of the panel. The homeowners chose Khaki for its softer, more natural appearance. It worked well with the home and landscaping without making the taller sections feel too heavy.

The mix of six-foot and eight-foot fencing gave the property a more finished and purposeful layout. The taller sections covered the more exposed areas, while the three matching gates kept access practical and the overall design consistent.
